Matthew LING

Executive Officer, Department of Scientific Research

Matthew is a year two medical student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an Executive Officer at HKSAN’s Department of Scientific Research (RES).

Currently, he is working together with Nelson Mak and Yuki Leung to lead a research project on phenotyping obstructive sleep apnea. His interests include sleep medicine, developmental psychology, and computer science, although he has a particular bias for bayesian probability. He hopes to one day develop his personal interests enough to be able to bridge them to medical research and contribute to its development.

You can sometimes find him in the English debate society of Chinese University, or otherwise spending more time than is healthy in cafes around Tai Kok Tsui and Tsim Sha Tsui. He’ll also be delighted if you challenge him to a chess game. In fact, he probably wouldn’t be able to resist.
